While I'm not shipping them as anything but one-sided bothering, I've found I like the SV kids better when I characterise them as the complete nutcases people play them as. Climbing mountains backwards, recklessly running into titans, haphazardly lobbing sandwich ingredients into piles and sticking a flag in it like it resembles any kind of food, forcing their rotom phone to fly them down cliffs they willingly leapt off. Not to mention pulling stakes out of the ground and smashing in shrine doors like dooming the world to ruin is just a bit of fun. They're tiny menaces and it's a lot funnier to think of them that way than just the blandly smiling innocent children they look like. It's kind of like how the more Larry insists he's very average and nothing is strange about him, the more outrageous I consider his entire deal and I love that.
