>>21623625Exactly, Hoenn in the non-water routes is by far the most well-designed region. Kanto comes close because of how non-linear the ENTIRE region could be, but when it gets down to the individual routes Hoenn is just so much better.
People even overexaggerate the water problem. If you know which direction you're going, they're over in no time at all, you'd only need like one max repel to take you from Lillycove to Mossdeep.
I remember as a kid with R/S/E and accidentally stumbling into pic related after racking up a couple hundred hours of playtime, it was an amazing feeling of discovery and I still love the little place to this day just because of muh nostalgia.
