this gen was very hit and miss for me. some really nice, creative designs, and what i consider the cutest pokemon of all, but also some of the worst designs so far, and no starters i'm happy with keeping on my team, and a severe lack of other pokemon i want on my team too. there's a lot of pokemon that i really appreciate the design of, but none of the big chunky two or three stage kaijus i like making teams from. this gen is also tipped towards very cartoony proportions with a lot of pokemon, huge yaoi hands and first stages with heads three times the size of their bodies. a lot of pokemon seem to lose something with evolution too. like the igloo aesthetic of alolan sandshrew turns into generic ice spikes with sand slash, the cool bandit motic and the neat red hand design of salandit are totally lost with salazzle for generic sexy scaly. i'd like them a lot better if those pink swirls were replaced with two hand markings running up her stomach and ending on her lizard tits or something. i love the alolan forms as an idea and some of them are really cool, but half of them just end up looking retarded with fat faces and stubby limbs, and pele's hair is a concept that is wasted on alolan diglett. on the whole, fair few designs i like and a few that i really love conceptually (but nothing that fits my personal pokemon aesthetic), a lot that i really dislike, but mostly stuff i'm indifferent to.
