Because it seems like Gamefreak is struggling to design good/iconic Pokemon. The new Mon's are either way too out of place, or overly designed to an obnoxious degree.

Espathra. I'm a big fan of bird mons, but Espathra's design just rubs me off the wrong way.
It also doesn't help that my first encounter with it was a bit awkward. I thought it was a Steel-type, I sent my Breloom to beat it, and it used a Psychic attack, downing my Breloom... That experience just made me dislike it haha.
