like, maybe the first gym is all about fucking with your stats. in the context of being a real game, it's to teach kids that you can't just brute force your way through some foes.
second gym, though, is hyper offense, with the goal being to force the player to plan defensively or double down on hitting harder, faster, and smarter.
fourth gym is full of pokemon with immunity-based abilities - water absorb, volt absorb, flash fire, etc. The ace is a Lance-style underleveled Eelektross.
Fourth gym is bear gym. all the pokemon are based on bears. just because.
shit like that, y'know? i love the idea of more challenging gyms, especially in a nuzlocke, but I hate forfeiting themes just to make things harder. i like it when gym leaders have weaknesses, to specific types or otherwise, i just want more hacks to give them more tools for dealing with that weakness instead of just eliminating that weakness altogether.
