I could see this being a good way going for word if they made home worth it, im talking battle sim, interaction, decoration and make a home for your pokemon, MAKE home be the entire online aspect of pokemon and most of the interaction a pet sim aspect if the user wants that.
And make the single player experience where people learn the techniques to battle,and then bring them back to home to use your pokemon to battle (real battles stalls, sweeps and power creeps) make casuals experience real pokemon battles and what they can do. Dont just let some dude over level his ratatta and tank the gyms. Have some rng tricks, I know they can do it some of the AI postgame does some bullshit in Y
I would accept that as a better gameplay experience
