In our little RP, it takes place in pretty much a cyberpunk like city. But it's all about advancing science and new tech. The companies there are super paranoid about ideas being stolen by like, Sylphco or other such places. So they have a huge crack down on the city security. Even going so far as to put a massive advanced wall around the place. (Like Midgar from FF7) The wall has sensors and patrols to monitor that things don't get in or out, even has squads that deal with flying types and the like trying to get in and flying away with messages or to spy through windows. Just real deranged paranoia that's over the top but fun. It's still a city though, so police and normal places like clubs and parks still exist.
But the shrines of the city have taken to basically being 'ghost hunters' since they can go through the wall or just show up in haunted buildings if there was an accident or something. They've had to 'get with the times' in a city like that.
