(slight spoiler alert, but I don't think it really matters)
Lorelei: Lead with Sarin. I have completely forgotten that Rest is Psychic-type, and Lorelei’s ‘good’ AI prompted her Dewgong to use it at full health against Poison. So, Sarin set up Amnesia and tore through her whole team with Thunderbolt, while one-shotting her both Jynx (she switched Slowbro for another Jynx) with Sludge.
Bruno: I have decided to risk a bit and lead with Squall. This proved to be the right decision, since he turned out to switch both of his Onix for Primeape and Poliwrath. As a result, Drill Peck did a quick work of him. It wasn’t such a perfect run as with Sarin, since Poliwrath and Machamp managed to survive, but all Poliwrath did in return was hitting Squall with a weak Rolling Kick before getting finished by Quick Attack. Machamp could have dealt a ton of damage with a potential Rock Slide (and I’m sure he had it)… But then Bruno used X Defend.
Agatha: This was noticeably harder. The old hag seemed to realize that the only Ghost-type Pokemon she could use in Gen I are Haunter and Gengar, so she abandoned the shtick, instead going for the creepiest Poison-type mons. I lead with Jalapeno, and while he did well, he took quite a beating in the process. As a result, when Agatha was down to only her Gengar, I’ve decided to switch him for Somnambula, expecting the ghost to have Thunderbolt (and I was proved to be right). After that, Gengar outsped and put Snorlax to sleep. When I switched for Masamune, Gengar went for yet another Hypnosis! Luckily, when I decided to use Squall, Gengar used Meditate for some reason (probably he packed Sludge), so Squall crit OHKO’d it with Drill Peck.
