Maybe its because my general opinion of pokemon's single player has always been pretty low, but this really doesn't seem like it's that much worse than the other modern games. I mean it's definitely flawed but the sheer outrage I see feels a little overdramatic.
I just finished the 5th gym and so far I'm enjoying it more than sun and moon at least. The gym battles themselves are the highlight, probably the best they've ever felt presentation wise. I mean they're easy as fuck but so are every other gen's gyms. The trainer customization is nice, the towns so far seem no less grand than sun and moon, the mines and the forest feel like typical post-gen 2 'dungeons'. I like the music for the most part (some of the battle themes are grating and awful, but some are nice and I've liked a lot of the town themes). Going and doing a new wave of raids after each gym keeps the pacing even and gives you a good opportunity to fill your pokedex up
I dont know l guess I dont see it. It's another standard middling pokemon single player experience. It's got flaws but it really doesnt feel -that- much worse than the last two gens to me, not enough to warrent the huge amount of animosity anyway
Dont get me wrong, voting with your dollar and not buying the game is great! I just dont understand why this didn't start happening way earlier as the games have been pretty mediocre for a long ass time now
