You should expect to fight a certain number of sudo-mandatory battles based on route design that makes you choose different types of trainers and spinner risks.
If you feel the need to grind at all, you’ve messed up the spirit of the game. Honestly, we could fix all of this by making the expectation a Nuzlocke glitchless speedrun. At this point, the only YouTuber Nuzlockes I enjoy are noobs and the deathless runs which actually justify all the planning needed since you can never get knocked out.
