Played XD nearly a year back and slowly playing through Colosseum now.
I dunno, I enjoy them but there's literally nothing other than battling, you hear the same three themes over and over and over and it gets a bit old only using Johtomons. Now, obviously I know the point of Orre games are being a Stadium clone with an adventure tacked on, and that it's also meant to distribute Johtomons to games that didn't originally have them, but it makes them feel pretty sluggish and samey to me, which is a shame because there were definitely standout battles that kicked my arse like no other non-battle facility battles in the main games, I just feel like it's limited by what Game Freak wanted out of them for their games.
Does Colosseum's main adventure improve later on? I'm around the part where you've gone and rescued ol' mate's Plusle after facing off against Miror B.
Don't get me wrong, I definitely enjoy these games (XD at least) and it's nice to see the last bit of big Gen III content that I never saw as a kid, and it's given me some extra utility for Emerald, just I feel like the fans I've seen treat it as some radical departure of consistent amazing quality from the main games, when I feel like it should be moreso treated as just well-made side content that proves that in-game battles can be more interesting than what Game Freak makes now without any dumb shallow gimmicks.
