Bigger pokemon = more health and smaller pokemon = more agility. Pikachu might be fast but one or two hits from an Onix could body him. Type advantages could then help counter the physical advantages/disadvantages. Real time combat would also BTFO status shitters.
I want to explore forests with my Venusaur, ride my Rapidash at it's top speed of 150mph across open plains or ride my Steelix like a freight train.
