>>40535298I'm amazed you managed to waste 4 paragraphs worth of tex and yet you didn't make a single decent point. I usually hate bringing up sales data since it rarely tells us anything about the quality of a game but since so many people here constantly bring it up to circlejerk around their favortie gen I guess it's unavoidable. DP sold 17,67 million copies compared to RS's 16,22 million giving them an increase of slightly over a million. However it's not really surprising if you look at the console sales data. The DS outsold the GBA by almost twice the amount (81,5 million to 154 million). In fact you could argue that DP only selling 1 million more copies despite having an over 70 million higher install base reflect rather poorly on them compared to RS. This also gives gen 3 an attachment rate of 19,9% while gen 4 only has 11,5%. Again, this is all pretty pointless since numbers like these tell us fuck all about quality but for a sales data analyst putting data like this into context is much more important than "hurr durr bigger number better".
Now that that's out of the way we can go into the main reasons why your post is complete garbage. >Other games do this thing where as you progress through the game you get new abilities or items that removes roadblocks and let you travel between towns easily
Yeah, they're called HMs. Sometimes there are other roadblocks like the Snorlax into Kanto or the Psyducks in Sinnoh but the main regulating factor when it comes to controlling player progression are HMs. It was like that in Kanto (You can't return to Mt. Moon unless you have Surf, Route 9 is blocked off unless you have Cut etc) and it's exactly the same in Hoenn.
