>>55341772I sincerely doubt it will have any impact on the franchise. Even if it were to sell 40 million copies, or a 100 million. The Pokemon games already have a formula that satisfies people, due to the games always selling well. Palworld being successful doesn't mean that suddenly people will stop buying Pokemon. The same way Battlebits selling well didn't prevent the following Call of Duty game breaking records again, or Baldur's Gate 3 selling well didn't mean every RPG that would release after would never sell well either.
It also doesn't help that Palworld is compared ad nauseam to Pokemon, which seems to indicate that people only care about it with the express purpose of mocking Pokemon, with people genuinely believing Gamefreak/Nintendo care. They do not, since people will keep buying their products. The videogame industry used to have people only buying a few games at most. Now, it's not uncommon to have gamers buy multiple videogames in a month, because for whatever reason they always have enough money.
By the way, I have no idea who keeps buying Call of Duty games, or how Diablo IV made a billion dollars just with micro transactions, we need to make a survey on /v/.
