And that, is precisely why if I buy the game in the image you've posted, I'll do so only for the 2D option.
3D looks bad. At it's worst it's just ugly and creepy and doesn't really belong anywhere outside horror games and at it's best it just looks like pic related.
Graphics don't add anything to a game because the game is about the gameplay, but it can and does take away from the game as a whole product when it looks like shit. Which few devs using 3D have been able to overcome (the image you've posted not being one of them).
Especially these days where it's just morons mostly following names (either series or developers both being utterly meaningless) and buying trash riddled with shit to rip you off, but it "looks good" so peer pressure sees sheep formed.
There's a reason you'll note that it's often fucking autists who don't go along - they don't give a shit about what normie faggots pretend to like because other normie faggots say they like it.
