Except Sapphire getting to control the water legendary which is later associated with birth, and Ruby getting the land one that's later associated with death, means that they're ackshually all connected.Tl;dr Sapphire isn't necessarily (just) a girlboss and Ruby isn't necessarily (just) a malewife. The Groudon/Kyogre parallel means neither of them can be fully dominant/submissive, at least not in stereotypical expected ways. In most ways they've got a standard heterosexual relationship, but in other ways their roles can get a bit fluid. In the end I think they're always just arguing (just affectionately)
