It was his Scrafty Vs. my Escavalier. Basically he just spammed Drain Punch. But I used Swords Dance about twice beforehand to get a boost and it barely made a scratch, yet when he used Drain Punch it nearly smacked the shit out my Escavalier.
Long story short he started spamming Drain Punch some more and threw in the occasional Bulk Up and shat all over my team, even my flying type which is SE against Scrafty
My guess is that his pokemon had higher IVs/EVs?
