But seriously think of your favorite Pokemon and start by looking them up on eBay and buy some of those, alot of people have a little collection dedicated to their favorite Pokemon, others also make a small collection dedicated to their Pokemon waifu if you got one, for me it's Misty.
Along with that buy product that you find in stores, I suggest against buying just single packs and going with the special boxes instead because they have better value, at the same time tho you should research what each current thing that you can find in store actually has in them tho because there's no reason for you to buy a certain pack if there's no cards in the pack that you want.
Last piece of advice is take it slow and most importantly don't buy sealed product from scalpers.
