>>35763178Pikachu and Sunflora are hardcoded to show the shiny sparkles. Shiny Pokemon more akin to what we know today (alternate color) are in the game and aren't that uncommon, however they do not yet sparkle. Clearly the mechanic was still being worked on when the demo came out.
