I don't play Yellow often enough, I keep forgetting how ridiculous the level spike is mid-game. I'm keeping a smaller team to focus more on them, because frankly I don't have much patience to grind. I beat Koga with X Accuracy and Fire Spin, which allowed me to get Special Bro. I wanted to abuse Amnesia at least once in Gen 1. After getting Amnesia, the rival and Giovanni went down easy. Sabrina also was less bad than I expected, since Ginger one-shot two of her Pokemon with Body Slam.
On a different note, I play on a Game Boy Advance SP, so (if I recall correctly) I can't trade to evolve Pokemon on Game Boy games.
