>Male gaze discussion
I think there's a strong concept here worth talking about, but I don't think it'd be accurate to call it a "male gaze". As one of the men in this thread, I hate most of what you're describing too. Uncreative pinups, characters kissing or having sex like they don't know or care about eachother, trying to tell a viewer something is sexy through cliche poses and camera angles rather than actually being sexy, I think these are more problems with lazy slop content rather than a genuine thing that men want. Maybe I'm the odd one out, but all that kind of stuff sucks and I don't see how anyone who isn't in the peak of puberty could see it as anything other than jingling keys to win undeserved attention. Good romance and good porn is character driven rather than being purely based on visuals and actions.
Pic related was the worst thread relevant sfw example I could find quickly. There's nothing behind the eyes of anyone here. I don't think there's anything male about the "male gaze", it's just artists treating sex appeal as a shallow engagement. It's the same thing as a director that thinks action is just about big explosions, or trying to get an audience to cry using nothing but sad violin, just directed towards the female body.
