There's also an Easter egg in Sun/Moon when you reach the Resort, in the Lobby you'll see two women huddled around a Machamp touching him and flirting with him. You can tell the ladies to knock it off and leave. But its actually a man under a Machamp costume, however it is never stated that the women were aware of this. It's pretty weird and unexpected in a kiddy game like Sun & Moon to be honest.
So... Yeah. Its heavily implied that somewhere in the deeper corners of the Pokemon universe that there is indeed people who are in a relationship with their pokemon. You can easily find wiki articles and youtube videos proofing this.
