The original sprites actually had a single pixel for a mouth which gave the characters a more neutral expression over the plastic soulless smile and looked a bit squished
>>51148869Not really because TMs only appear once in the map and NPCs almost never give TMs that can be bought elsewhere, in Gens 5-8 they are treated as a sort of collectable this way. If they wanted to carry over some mechanics from Gen 8 (since it only borrowed ones from Gen 6 from 2013) they should have brought TRs into the mix and save permanent TMs for later.
