Nook voluntarily removes the stump and then holds onto the rest of the tree, "Thanks, much! This tree will make for suitable wood supplies! Now, let's get to the construction borders..."

With a wave goodbye, Nook whirls his tail like a helicopter, and hovers off while carrying the tree.
Neat.
The tent isn't anything special, but it was awfully nice of him to do that, so you can't complain.
