>What are Spinarak and Ariados?Spinarak and Ariados are Bug/Poison-type Pokémon released in Generation 2 that are comparable to the real world insect called spider, or perhaps specifically a tarantula. This ties in with their ability to learn String Shot, Spider Web, and the aforementioned Toxic Thread, as expected of a poisonous spider/tarantula. This line is thought to rival the Bug/Flying type Pokémon Ledyba and Ledian that are comparable to the real world insect called ladybug. Spinarak and Ariados can only be caught during the night in Generation 2 while Ledyba and Ledian can only be caught during the morning in Generation 2.

In Generation 7, Ariados had its Special Defense increased by 10 points raising the stat to 70 and its Base Stat Total to 400.
