If say you have a 0 Def Stakataka (231 Defense) against a 252 Att Krookodile (185 Attack). Ignoring typing, any physical attack this Krook does will have a multiplier of 185/231= 80%, so because of your higher defense than his attack it will make all his physical hits .8x stronger, or 20% weaker.
