Autism is a thing, some people fucking obsess over things beyond what's normal. The idea that a programmer or even just a hobbyist who has access to games that have been disassembled completely, has a ton of beta information and potentially a lot of time on their hands in an age where ROM hacking and making old games from scratch is beyond easy to learn isn't that hard to believe.
Not to mention the fact that people make complete 3D renders of environments and spend ages in photoshop making fake leaks for two seconds of fame happens regularly on the internet.
I'm not directly saying it's fake but when there's a not much info about its origin it's suspicious as fuck.
