In the anime, they usually have a couple signature attacks and just use that. It's more about powerlevels than attacks and exploiting weaknesses (The biggest use of weaknesses that stands out to me from the anime is in Adventure when WarGreymon uses his Dramon Killer claws to take down two of the Dark Masters that happened to be Dramons)
