Seriously man, don't. And this is from someone who was hesitant to buy it too, but gave it a shot. I ended up in the IDEAL position to play this game: I got a cheap used copy, got a was gifted a giftcard so didn't have to spend my own cash and got it during a deal where I managed to get astral chain, pokken DX and ARMS with it. Even with all this, I felt like the game was a bad purchase.
I've seen people mention how the most annoying part of the game is constant stopping by Hop and everyone else, but goddamn it's so much worse when you're playing it. I'm not exaggerating when I say I drift off constantly when playing the game. It's THAT much of a slog through. It's so apparent how lacking the game is when you compare it to other switch games. I dozed off the first hour of playing SWSH but man, the first hours of Pokken and Astral Chain was insanely fun- I highly recommend it.
Switch eshop is having a sale now that has very good price cuts on games. I got South Park: Stick of Truth and Lego DC Villains Deluxe edition and both have been a far more fun time. And again, this is coming from someone that's usually a Pokemon-games-only guy that was more than willing to give it a shot.
To me nit getting SWSH isn't a matter of not wasting your money, it's about not wasting your time. It's just really slow and tedious. I'm trying to find someone to trade it to or might seriously just give it to my pokemon loving student.
