What I'm saying is that the character using "she" or "he" in the text isn't relevant, since the Japanese text is gender neutral and the translator most likely didn't even know he WASN'T supposed to just randomly assign whatever gender he felt like. So we get Olivia calling her male Lycanroc "she" and Nanu calling his female Persian "he".
