I really don't see it as that deep because I believe anyone that has been with the franchise for enough years can reach the same conclusion if they think for a bit of why this "feels wrong". What's wrong with loving something?
What's wrong with thinking of why you love that something?
What's wrong with trying to tell the developers that they're steering it in the wrong direction and potentially leading to a shorter life for the franchise which you love?
What's wrong with trying to show others why they should try to change things before it becomes too late?
