>>36415009Gen 4, Sinnoh: Awkward art style compared to Gen 3, is a Water/Psychic-type with a BST of 315, but has a lot of cool hidden stuff. Platinum fixed some issues like there being only one Fire-type before the postgame if you didn’t pick Chimchar.
HG/SS: Ideal remakes. Keep in content from Crystal and actually updates the regional Dex for Gen 4. Still have some of the Sinnoh games’s problems but really fleshed out GSC where they needed fleshing out. Last true Safari Zone. Still has problems with the level curve apparently
Gen 5: Blatantly linear region but still has extra stuff to explore along the way, B/W took a bold move by having a dex of entirely new mons before the postgame, felt like a pretty cool soft-reboot. Best story implementation, especially with
BW1’s final boss. Cool postgames in both cases, and Skyscraper/Treehollow was the last great battle facility and what the Pyramid should’ve been. Pretty neat that the Battle Subway shows up halfway through the game instead of being postgame-only. BW2 are the most original updated games (in the vein of Yellow, Crystal, Emerald, Platinum, USM) we’ve had to date; are cooler than BW1 but have less chill. BW1 are the last games where you can do a full no-save playthrough up to the final boss on a game that already has a save since Pokéstar Studios softlocks that kind of playthrough and the option is disabled entirely in the 3DS generation.
