>>54538983>Now considering that HGSS is a game were you: travel mostly on foot through two regions, compete in a Pokatehtlon, manage an expansive wild life preserve, and said game even comes with the most accurate pedometer ever made, was this really the time to drop the hiker look?On the opposite end, I feel like Johto has a very slice of life feel to it compared to every other Pokemon game. The weekly events, being able to befriend NPCs, day and night (was new in the original games), dex lineup consisting of cute mons, and get in touch with the region's culture and lore. The sense of everyday mundaneness and appreciation of what's right in front of you felt like the main focus of the games to me rather than high energy trekking, and Lyra sort of embodies that energy. Combine with followmons (Marill usually being associated with her due to her usually being pinned as the childhood friend NPC) and you get a pretty cute character that compliments the theme of the game.
Ethan still has that relatable yet adventrous "a boy and his dog" look too, for what it's worth. I do miss Kris though, the blue overworld sprite was always my favorite.
