I did some of the linework and cleanup a few years back. The workflow was bizarre.
Imagine if you were animating a full series with the following workflow;
Paint Tool Sai for sketches/images, layers for frames
Photoshop for special effects and assembling into a gif.
Import gif into Sony Vegas for sounds and final video.
