When I was young I fucking loved Pikachu, probably because I watched the anime and Yellow was my first game. I had it in almost every team I raised, and in Emerald I even went through the effort of breeding a Volt Tackle Pikachu because I just had to have Pikachu's super special secret signature move. I always thought that people on the Internet who insulted Pikachu were just edgy kids trying to be cool by mocking the most popular Pokemon. Shit, even when I first started playing competitively on Netbattle, I used a Pikachu.
After I finished my "lol who plays Pokemon" phase and came back to the franchise, my love of Pika dissipated, and I like Raichu way more now. I just don't care for Pikachu's modern design. However, I'll always have a soft spot for Pikachu's classic design.
