>>41007156That's not even right, SM sold less than XY in total. In fact, the franchise as a whole has been declining in total sales with each generation. Still in the tens of millions, but it's been shrinking all the same. The biggest dip in sales by far came with RSE's release, directly related to the inability to transfer from gen II. And that was a technical issue, instead of flat out cutting the dex because they couldn't be fucked.
I'm not saying SWSH won't have strong sales, numb nuts. There's lots of casuals completely ignorant of the cuts and their extent, and many others who just don't comprehend what the dex cuts truly mean for the franchise. It's gonna be a slow, painful decline. Unless they decide to change their direction, anyways, which all signs point to "no".
Again, there's no such thing as too big to fail.
