The original Skyla was born at least 90 years ago and during her lifetime was scouted by an ad agency shortly after receiving her pilot's license. She's promoted airlines, soft drinks, cigarettes and even appeared on recruitment posters. So long as the imagery could involve aviation, she'd be there.
Tragedy struck during a skydiving accident and the Rescue Drifblim didn't make it in time. A mysterious benefactor obsessed with her work was able to secure her remains and funded research on "bringing her back" in some form. Cloning research was the answer to his prayers.
None of the Skyla clones have memories of the original, but all seem to have a penchant for flying.
