I can even see Platina admiring Pearl more than Dia actually. The only other main reason I prefer Dia with her is because Pearl wouldn't feel like a "third-wheel" if they actually did get together. I can still see Pearl taking care of both of them, with Dia and Platina looking up to him for advice or just plain fooling around with him. I can't see Dia being this if he became a third wheel, especially when it's obvious that he likes her more than a friend. I would just feel bad for him in that situation.
But yeah, until proven otherwise, OT3 is the best way to go (whether it be friendship or romantic).
