The most obvious one being the removal of the entire red herring ruins section. As (subjectively) neat as they were, their inclusion simply made the route too big. Additionally, depending on your point of view, they were just stupid.
2nd edit is far less divisive. The top of the route was stripped of vegetation real quick to at least facilitate future workins with Legato. As you recall, this entire section of the region is dry, the town included. Whoever made this map originally didn't exactly take that into account, so this is at least a placeholder move to make it easier to try and make the maps match up when that time comes.
