For example, in DragonQuest VIII, the protag doesn't talk, but reacts and makes expressions depending on what's going on. It's honestly amazing how such a simple, fundamental thing can improve a game and how shit like that is ignored by KikeFreak.
Imagine if when a rare or powerful Pokemon would come out the protag would act surprised or grimace in a serious tone, like "oh shit this might be tough" or whatever. Instead we get
