Its an SI from a writer that usually likes to take the "how would this setting handle someone with massive outside context knowledge that doesn't really give a shit about what she does", which in this story manifests as a first 8-then-9-then-10 year old girl utilizing the aforementioned hidden knowledge in the form of Arcanine (only like 5 known to exist in the region) using firestones to evolve, the fact that Feebas can evolve at all which she uses to fund her family's finances via a prism scale farm, and the good old gravity training shctick
At first she doesn't know which timeline she's in and assumes its some sort of mixture due to the complete lack of digital pokedexes, only for it to eventually be revealed that
she's in the anime timeline, which diverged some fifty years ago with the death of Samuel OakPretty enjoyable so far, though I'm kinda just reading as a chaser after reading her BattleTech story, which both it and this have been dormant since september
