For example Zoroark is very popular in smash or pass polls and Zoroark isn't exactly humanoid and surpasses many Pokemon that aren't based of real animals. Likewise the Pokemon that cluster together in both rankings and pornography made are Pokemon popular with furries, I think there's a good reason why plant-like Pokemon or Pokemon not based off real animals, except the ralts line, fall pretty short in comparison to those Pokemon based off real animals.
I think that people conceptualize Pokemon as animals and furries drive the NSFW engine that it just all blends together.
