I'm not going to explore Route 216 with my Level 20 Grotle if I'm gonna get destroyed by Level 40 Snovers.
But if that means that Gardenia is skippable I might just skip her then. Worst case scenario I just skip her for the end of the game and use a "temporary Snover" like you said.
