Rule of thumb is that the more valuable an item is, the less probable is to find a deal where you can get something better out of them, so Heart Scales are a good choice to cash out if you need the diamonds. (though yes, there is a good chain in pic related with them in it, so if you can, do save your heart scales and cash out something else instead, like odd keystones)
