something I just cannot figure out is, what they will do with Dawn and Piplup.

everyone here knows Piplup is big money we know Dawn is a popular character and when it comes to the anime we know its Dawn when it comes to Piplup.
we also know that she is the only one of Ashs friends who was treated specially, long outlasting the original PLA/BDSP shilling we also know that she is the only Ash friend who has "stagnated" when it comes to their goal.

I am sure they have a special place for both her and Ash

She still has not gotten a real goodbye and I don't see them wanting to give her or Piplup up again.

first, we do know that there were problems with production but to what extent we don't know

we know that TR will be in the anime for whatever comes next either an SV or a JN2/continuance

it felt like this TR clip with sprigs was kinda of a teaser of what to come sort of like "hey we are behind but here's a peak of what to come"

we know that if TR is there Ash is also there, they chase his Pikachu no others. As for Goh Chloe and maybe Dawn, we only have previous info to go on

Goh: if PJM is over after this then he has no goal he's completely free to do whatever. but he could continue to chase mew so who knows

Chloe: is doing nothing and has no goal

Dawn: we know from pic related that she has completed all available contests in the regions listed. she is open to travel. why else would they say that?

Ash: has become the "strongest" but we know from his VA that becoming a pokemon master means more than being the strongest. he is open to more.

all 4 charters have no direct path in front of them they have their respective dreams to achieve but currently have nothing to do.
