Grass types are the best starter to be. You can use giga drain to refill on hp without wasting oran berries you might need for your partner and you've got a way of keeping your hp up if you're out of food items and dying. It doesn't make the games too easy either because grass has enough weaknesses. Chikorita/Charmander and Treecko/Torchic best combo
