Medley, the daughter of a revered champion..
At a very young age, her mother left the family and Medley's left with nothing else but riches, her father (who is a grass type gym leader) and pokémon. Her mother made an announcement that she was on a mission to bring all pokémon to peace by herself as she believed only she had some sort of special connection with pokémon. She was later found dead several months later possibly from starvation or other sickness. Her public announcement and goals made her popular to the public, but not with Medley's family for obvious reasons.
At the time, Medley was too young to care about what happened to her mother. She lived a luxuriously carefree school life and didn't really have any goals in mind. At first she did not want to follow her mother's footsteps to become champion. she's pretty bad at battling. And hates being pressured by her strict father to be like her mother.
Medley later grows to be more curious about the events of her mother. And decides that her goal in life is to see what really happened to her mother, and what exactly her goal is to bring 'peace' to pokémon. Her curiosity ended up strengthening the bond with her father (as he too has a similar goal) and decides to make her team stronger, maybe strong enough to challenge the league. Spoiler alert: she's still pretty bad at battling. But she's getting there.
How she got some of her team:
>Jumpluff: Her first pokémon, saved her from savage Wurmples by scaring them away with splash as a Hoppip.
>Lilligant: A gift from her father as a Petili. She always loved grass types because she liked to play in the grassfields alot, This gift mon cemented her type specialty.
