>>43921641The problem is that it's at the expense of literally everything else.
LGPE cut out everything after the original 151, aside from the Meltan line. Back then, you could chalk it up to the games being different. But here we are, in gen VIII, with dex cuts and rosterfaggotry, and kanto is getting preferential treatment in who's being let back in with the DLC, while everyone fights over crumbs.
The worst part is how surface level the kanto pandering actually is. On a gameplay level, most kanto Pokemon aren't even good. Most of those Kanto g-maxes were fucking wasted because GF couldn't be fucked to actually buff them. I would legitimately love if many of these old Pokemon could receive substantial buffs while still being, well, their regular old selves. But that sure as hell ain't happening.
This is an unpopular opinion, but I think gen VI hit the right spot with kanto pandering. There's a fair bit of it, sure, but not to the point where it keeps anything else from thriving. Sure, it initially got more megas than any other region when XY released, but most that got megas fucking needed that buff by then, and ORAS introduced many non-kanto megas. Most of the kanto pandering actually made sense, and fuck, Beedrill started to see competitive use. That's always a plus in my book.
Contrast with gen VII where all the Alolan forms were kanto shit, and the entire shitshow that was the aforementioned LGPE. There's a balance that needs to be made is all.
But yeah, fuck G-max Charizard, bring back its megas god fucking damn it, it was the only time Charizard was ever any good in competitive.
