The point would have come across just fine, it just would've been completely unsatisfactory to waste the potential of a chimera on a design that looks no more alien than a fucking Nidoking, like every signle one of those redesigns. Also, those are shoving pre-exiting Pokemon into the Gen 8 fossil framework, when the Gen 8 fossils were specifically made with it in mind. Of course they would look like shit, especially since most of those seem to be joke designs riffing on the concept.
If you want a "chimera" that utterly wastes the concept in favor of looking conventionally "cool", you got one last gen. Now fuck off with your boring ass taste.
