The whole "Catch 'Em All" stance doesn't really work in-series. It shouldn't be used in adaptations.
It makes Pokemon into collectible commodities. This goes against everything the series has shown us so far. They're beings with personalities, who their trainers love and who grow with them. Only pricks would treat them like toys in a set, just another thing to check off their list.
